Get The “Edge” In Cleaning

In general, refinishing hardwood floors involves 3 main steps, i.e. sanding, staining and finishing. Due to the uncertain economy, most of the homeowners have to do careful cost estimation before they start taking any action to refinish their hardwood floors for their home sweet home.

If you are a beginner, you might want to start with a small section of colors on your palette. As you become a more experienced painter, you can add more colors.

After you have finished cutting the entire quilt go ahead and toss it in the washing machine. This will be a little messy for your machine and you will want to wipe it out with a paper towel afterwards as you will have clumps of fabric in the machine. Then toss it in the dryer. After the dryer you will have a nice warm and fluffy rag quilt. The more you wash it the more it will fray and look gorgeous!

Now let’s talk about doing the fiberglass tabbing. You will need Fiberglass Resin and hardener and of course Fiberglass cloth. Get two types…fiberglass mat, which is chopped fiberglass strands put together in a roll or squares and the other is fiberglass woven cloth. The chopped fiberglass mat forms easily to any surface contours and then putting the woven mat on top gives it plenty of strength. You can put a layer of the chopped fiberglass followed by the woven fiberglass and then do a final chopped again wider than the area you have done….that’s real beefy. There are so many ways to do this, and you will get opinions from everyone…some who have never done this, but to do is better to not do. You will also learn and see the intricacies of the inner parts of your hull.

Why are they easier to make than traditional quilts? As mentioned earlier, expert sewing knowledge rag quilt directions not necessary. If you can measure fabrics and sew a straight line (or even not so straight), then you can make a rag quilt.

This does not have to be done in one day. Do a section at a time and let cure for at least a day (I’d give it more to make sure the resin cures) and check that it did cure…again read all instructions on all cans, especially the cautions.

Apply a polyurethane finish – make sure the stain is dry and then you can put down the first coat. You will use a brush to apply the stain and should use long even strokes. When the first coat is dry to the touch, you can apply the second coat. For best results, let the floor sit undisturbed for a couple of days before moving everything back in or allowing anyone to walk on it.
